If you are a beer lover, then forget the other events and activities and simply attend the beer fest – an event that serves a variety of beers to purchase. There are various themes such as beers from a particular area or a varied range of brewed styles. Beer Fest is celebrated in various countries in their own ways like Qingdao International Beer Festival in China, Oregon Brewers Festival Portland, Tbilisi Beer Festival Georgia, Great British Beer Festival, National Winter Ales, Great American Beer Festival (GABF), Great Canadian Beer Festival, Campaign for Real Ale and many more.
Here we will put some light on the quirky beer festival Oktoberfest celebrated in Germany and another beer fest National Beer Mile. Both these fests are to be held in October this year.
Oktoberfest is one of the popular festivals celebrated in Germany. It is the World’s largest Beer Festival. However, many argue that this is more of a folk festival. Earlier it was a folk festival and later it became a public festival celebrated in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It is being organized successfully since 1801. It is an important part of Bavarian culture. This beer festival is arriving this October on 17th.
This fest takes place in Munich, Germany, on the famous Theresienwiese, and it is also called Festwiese by the locals. The preparation for the fest starts in June and takes more than three months to complete, just in time for the fest’s opening ceremony. A fun fact about this fest is, according to Guinness Book of World Record, there is no other place on our planet where you can find more beer on the tap than at Great American Beer fest.
In this fest only, six beers are allowed to participate which all are brewing in Munich city. These limits are – Paulaner Bräu, Hofbräuhaus München, Augustiner Bräu Löwenbräu Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu, and Hacker-Pschorr Bräu. Each brewery has their own tent and only their beer is served. Apart from that, Oktoberfest beer is typically around 6% ABV which is quite stronger than the general lager beer. Due to dehydration, many people pass out of exhaustion and these people called Bierleichen (Beer Corpses).
Some important Rules for this year’s Oktoberfest.
- Large rucksack bags are not allowed in the fest.
- Any bag pack or rucksack must not exceed the size of 3 liters.
- Animals are not permitted in the fest.
- For children, there are no general bans on large pushchairs. Children can enjoy the view of Oktoberfest from their pushchairs.
